Blue Grotto (Qrendi — east of Wied iz-Zurrieq) – located on the southern coast of the island of Malta, these are sea caverns reminiscent of similar ones found at the Grotta Azzurra in Capri, near Naples, Italy. The popularity of this site is confirmed by the large number of tourists who book boat trips to visit this area (estimated to generate around 100,000 visitors a year). Those diving in this area will have more reason to appreciate this site, since they can see the phosphorescent colors of the submerged flora and the deep dark share of the blue sea. The 2004 Hollywood film “Troy” (with Brad Pitt) was filmed in this area.
